HUNTINGTON BEACH MAYOR PRO TEM GRACEY VAN DER MARK ENCOURAGES LOCAL LADIES GROUP TO PRACTICE COMMON SENSE AND PARTICIPATE IN THEIR CHILD’S EDUCATION.

At the West Orange County Republican Women Federated (WOCRWF) November meeting, the ladies displayed their support for Israel with centerpieces that featured both the American and Israeli flag, new Executive Officers were sworn in, and attendees brought donations for Precious Life Shelter in Los Alamitos. This month’s meeting welcomed Huntington Beach Mayor Pro Tem Gracey Van Der Mark as the keynote speaker.

Gracey Van Der Mark shared how she decided to become involved in local politics and her journey of becoming an elected official for the city of Huntington Beach. Ms. Van Der Mark passions include protecting our children’s innocence and keeping Huntington Beach a safe place to live and visit. Huntington Beach city council has made the news headlines for suing the State of California and for passing ordinances regarding parental controls.

Ms. Van Der Mark encouraged parents to be involved at all levels of their children’s education. She reminded the audience that parents are allowed to review all materials, discussions, and books that their child is being exposed to on campus. “Don’t be intimidated by school administrators. It is your responsibility to know what your child is learning, and you have a say in their education,” said Ms. Van Der Mark.

Each month, the WOCRWF supports a local community organization. At Saturday’s meeting, ladies brought items for the guests of Precious Life Shelter in Los Alamitos. The collection table was overflowing with baby clothes, diapers, gifts for mom, and gift cards to local grocery stores. These items will be donated directly to the moms and babies receiving services from Precious Life Shelter.

At the close of the meeting, Ms. Van Der Mark led the Installation of the 2024 Executive Officers. The new officers will begin planning the 2024 speaker line-up, social activities, and community involvement.

The West Orange County RWF’s next meeting will be on the third Saturday in January. The speakers will consist of city council representatives from several west orange county cities to share updates in the cities served by the WOC RWF.
